Soul Search is a dynamic grade 3 composition that opens with a snare drum solo. The brass take up the rhythmic motif in an exciting fanfare. Next the woodwinds respond with their own theme. In the B section there is a beautiful duet between the first clarinet and flute that builds to a musical climax. Then there is a development of the motives in counterpoint before a return to the main theme.
