ABOUT THE PIECE:
Ashes, Ashes… we all fall down
Urban legend says that “Ring Around the Rosie” originally described the plague, more specifically the Great Plague of London, or the Black Death. True or not, this children’s folk song is the centerpiece of this eerie and dark show set to the story of the Black Plague.
The show starts with the “children” singing and playing “Ring Around the Rosie”, but quickly becomes dark and ominous. The middle portion of the show takes the audience “back in time” to a more joyful place “before the ships arrived” in 14th century Europe. By the end, the inevitable has become clear…there will be no survivors.
